If you've lost your license plate or decal, it's been stolen, or you never received it, you'll need a registration replacement. This process ensures you have a valid license plate or decal back in your possession.
On the other hand, if you've misplaced the actual paper registration (often stored in your glovebox), you'll need a duplicate registration.
